When should you consider custom software?
Custom software makes sense when it solves a specific problem that cannot reasonably be handled with available features. You may need it when:
- An important part of work happens outside the system. Pricing, decisions or document workflows are managed in spreadsheets and messages.
- Programs do not exchange data. Your team enters the same information into the ERP, CRM and warehouse application.
- An application needs changes, but there is no supplier to make them. The system works, but new requirements are waiting and every fix is difficult to commission.
- You need to connect a system to an external service. For example, KSeF, a customer’s platform or a courier service.
We start by checking your current tools. Sometimes configuration or an add-on is enough. If both programs do their jobs and only data exchange is missing, see system integration. We consider a new application or module when the process lacks a required feature. If it is hard to identify the source of the problem, process analysis can help.
Building and developing business software
You can ask us to build a new application, extend your current system or connect programs your team already uses. Example tasks include:
- Supporting a process missing from the current program. For example, job costing according to your own rules or document workflows between departments.
- Adding a required feature. A form, report, rule or permissions within an existing application.
- Improving the database. Speeding up queries and reports, organising data or moving it to a new system.
- Exchanging data between programs. Transferring orders, customer data or statuses between ERP, CRM and other services.
- Developing an older application further. Fixes, updates and gradual system modernisation.
We specialise in .NET, C# and Microsoft SQL Server. We have over 20 years of experience in requirements analysis, design, programming and implementation of business systems. Read more about DO IT GLOBAL’s experience.
Where needed, the application can also be extended with document extraction or other AI features.
Connecting your application to other systems
We connect custom applications to ERP, CRM and external services through APIs, agreed file exchange or an intermediary layer. An API is an interface through which a program makes data and functions available to other applications.
Before work starts, we define which system is the source of information, how to identify duplicates and what to do if a transfer fails. We write to packaged ERP systems through mechanisms supported by the vendor. Integrations between programs you already use, including AI, are described on our ERP, CRM and AI system integration page.
Connecting your own system to KSeF through an API
If invoices are created in a custom application, we can connect it to the KSeF 2.0 API, Poland’s National e-Invoicing System. The scope covers sending sales invoices, retrieving purchase invoices or both tasks.
The integration handles access and permissions, document statuses, errors and retries without creating duplicates. We check it in a test environment before launch. We agree the required modes and invoicing rules with the person responsible for accounting at your company, using Poland’s Ministry of Finance documentation for KSeF integrators (in Polish).
If you also need to check invoices against orders and deliveries, see purchase invoice reconciliation with KSeF.
Example scenario: invoicing in your own application
A company issues invoices in a .NET system, then transfers them to KSeF manually. After integration, the application sends the document and stores the result. The person responsible for invoicing sees which invoices have been accepted and which need investigation.
Taking over and developing a system built by another supplier
Do you have a working application, but find it difficult to commission a fix or add a required feature? We can take over its development after a technical review.
We check the source code, database, documentation and access to environments. We assess whether the system can be run, tested and modified. You receive an assessment of its condition and a work plan: what can be improved straight away and what needs preparation first.
Before making changes, we prepare a test environment and a way to return to the previous version. After the review, you can commission a specific feature or choose ongoing maintenance and development.
How do we start and how much does custom software cost?
The first conversation is free. We ask about the task, current systems and expected outcome. If the scope is known, we prepare a proposal. If we first need to understand the process or code condition, we suggest a separately priced assessment.
The price depends on features, integrations, data condition and requirements for system operation. Work can be billed at a fixed price for an agreed scope or within an agreed work limit. We price additional work before carrying it out.
We start with a scope that can be implemented and checked. We agree acceptance criteria, documentation and responsibility for later maintenance. Throughout the project, you speak to the person leading the work and familiar with the decisions. Read more about how we work, and for IT companies, partnership options.
